About us

Le Petit Sécheron

We are a small farm and CSA in Lausanne Switzerland.

We grow 2.5 acres of vegetables, flowers, berries, and herbs in the sunniest fields of our 24-acre farm located on Salt Spring Island, BC. The remaining acreage is split between forest, historic orchard, marshland, and rolling pastures.

Our CSA is the heart of our farm, and most of the produce we grow goes to our member families.

We devote a huge amount of space to flowers, with over 100 varieties of flowers and foliage that we use in our mixed bouquets and arrangements.

We will have to respond to our true vocation, which is not to produce and consume until the end of our lives, but to love, admire and care for life in all its forms.

The eldest of four siblings, I had a childhood typical of a large family on the farm in French-speaking Switzerland. Following my compulsory studies in Morges, I went to the United States for a year of exchange in order to gain confidence, learn a second language and “cut the cord” as my father used to say. High school diploma in hand, I entered the Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne to obtain a bachelor’s degree in hotel management and hospitality professions.

After my studies, I then lived seven years in New York, chaining positions of responsibility in large hotels in Manhattan, even if I do not see myself evolving in this world in the long term. I am passionate about well-being, personal development and practice a lot of yoga.

In 2015, everything changed when my father decided to leave, leaving his farm behind him, with no plans to take over. The same year, I married Kaunda Wilson, who supported me in this moment of painful mourning. With the desire to align my values with my way of life, I therefore decided to follow a yoga teacher training course, to leave the hotel industry and to leave New York for good to return to Switzerland, with a real desire to keep the family heritage for generations to come and to preserve the land that our parents, grandparents and great-grandparents have worked for all these years.

Since our return in 2017, I have followed the agricultural training which allowed me to take over the family estate in January 2020. In the meantime, we have welcomed the new generation since our son Jaxon Isaiah was born in March 2019.

I was born in 1980 in Houston, Texas in the United States. After finishing my bachelor’s degree in marketing and communication, I decided to travel to Europe and settled in Paris to follow a master’s degree in marketing. During my studies there, I had the chance to have several internship opportunities in major French and international fashion houses.

A few years after completing my master’s, it was a job offer for a large event agency specializing in the production of fashion shows that brought me back to the United States, to New York. This is where I meet the love of my life, Christel Petit. It only took one visit to Switzerland at Christmas 2013 to convince me of a possible life in this beautiful country. As my career continued to develop in various New York production offices, I chose to create a digital content company in 2015 which I successfully sold to my associates when we left the United States.

Our dreams and our ambitions change and the prospect of settling in Switzerland, getting married, having a child but above all keeping the Petit family farm going takes on its full meaning. I have been learning and experimenting with clay for 3 years and am delighted to be able to bring my often missing sales and marketing skills to this type of project.
